Access to the Internet will be provided during library hours. It is understood that technical problems may sometimes occur and interrupt this service. Access to the Internet will be provided to all patrons of the County of Prince Edward Public Library. Patrons under 13 years of age must have the written permission of their parent or legal guardian. Staff will assist in initially signing on to the Internet, but will not instruct on Internet use beyond basic techniques. Patrons requiring further training are encouraged to participate in our one-on-one computer and Internet tutorials. There is a one-hour time limit on this service. If no other patron or staff member is waiting to use the Internet workstation, this limit may be extended. Internet bookings will be taken by staff members so that this time limit may be enforced fairly. Anyone misusing or damaging the computer or using the Internet for illegal purposes may have their library privileges suspended, be prosecuted, and will be financially liable for any damage to the equipment. While we do not censor information, the library is a public institution and all material viewed should be generally acceptable. Complaints regarding Internet usage by patrons should be directed to Library staff or to the Branch Manager. |
