SIMPLE STEPS TO ORDERING YOUR OWN INTERLIBRARY BOOK LOANS
-
You will need a PEC library card. With a library card, you can obtain your PIN number from the library. Any staff member can supply this 4 digit number to you.
-
Once you have your PIN number, contact the Interlibrary Loan department of the County Library to register for making your own Interlibrary Loan Requests. You can e-mail the department at: illodept@peclibrary.org or call them at 613-399-2023.
-
Once you are registered, visit the library website at www.peclibrary.org and go to "Online Library".
-
From the drop down menu, click on "Online Databases"
-
Click on "Library Databases" and scroll down to VDX-Interlibrary Loan Search.
-
Once in the VDX-Interlibrary Loan Search, look on the left side for "My Account" and click on "Sign in".
-
A dialogue box will appear requesting your User ID and password.
-
Your User ID is the 14-digit number on the front of your County of Prince Edward Public Library card. Key it in.
-
Your library PIN number will serve as your password. Key it in.
-
Under "Authentication Service", click and scroll the drop down menu until you see "Prince Edward (County of) Library" and choose it.
-
Then click on "Submit" at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the VDX page asking for the title, author or topic of the book or materials you would like to search for.
-
Once you have found what you would like to order, click on "Get it" on the far right. A new page with your request will appear.
-
Read the information on the page to make certain that the material you want is chosen.
-
At the bottom of the page, choose the "Pick up location" from the drop down box. For example, if you would like the book sent to the Bloomfield branch, choose "Bloomfield" and so forth.
-
Click on "Submit". A message will appear stating, "Your request has been successfully catalogued". The system will have assigned a number to you so that you may track the request.
That's all there is to it!
Should you wish to go through the process at any branch of the library with the assistance of a staff member, please drop by or call if you would like to make an appointment. You may also contact a library branch and have someone go over the process with you over the phone.
