March Break is officially one month away!
Do you have plans to help bust boredom while the kids are out of school? Dust off your super suits and air out your capes, because a week of superhero themed programming is coming your way! Here are just a few of the highlights.
Kids of all ages and stages will find something to occupy them during the break from March 17th-21st. For the littlest sidekicks, our regularly scheduled Tuesday Toddler Time and Saturday Storytime will take place, but with a heroic twist! Costumes of all your favourite caped crusaders (be it Batman, PJ Masks or maybe the gang from Paw Patrol) are highly encouraged – the cute factor will be through the roof!
On Wednesday March 18th, we’ll be combining forces with Rob Spagnola of The Gym At The Armoury to bring two rounds of Superhero Strength Training to the Picton Branch Library! Each 45 minute session is designed to release the superhuman abilities inside of all of us, and will have you working out like your favourite heroes. The first session from 10:30-11:15am is aimed at kids ages 4-8, while the second session from 11:15-12pm is for those aged 9+. Make sure to register for your free ticket, and don’t miss out on this epic opportunity. And if you’re feeling flexible, the Wellington Branch Library has the Elastigirl Yoga Boot Camp on Friday March 20th at 10:30am, where all ages and stages are welcome to join Joanna for a fun and invigorating yoga workshop. No experience (or super powers) necessary!
Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 2pm you will find Joanna crafting her alter ego with a plaster mask workshop. This two-day event uses bandage plaster and all the creativity you can muster, but participants must attend both days. Attendees are encouraged to wear old clothing and have their hair tied back on day one, to avoid any wardrobe disasters. This is open to superhumans aged 10+, but there’s only space for 10 heroes. Register early to avoid disappointment.
Perhaps doing good and protecting the world isn’t really your thing? Embrace your inner villain on Friday March 20th at 2pm with scientific experiments that aren’t for the faint of heart. All nemeses aged 7+ are encouraged to attend.
To bring the celebrations to a close, Joanna will be at the Picton Branch Library on Saturday, March 21st at 2pm with special guest, Natalie Stone. Come morph into your favourite character with face painting from the extraordinary Natalie, and pose on our green screen in your super suit to marvel at how easily you can soar through the sky! All ages welcome and family teams are encouraged.
For the full schedule of events, to register, and to get your free tickets, please visit our Events Calendar at www.peclibrary.org/kids, or give Joanna a call at 613-476-5962. Can’t make it in during programming hours? Don’t despair – additional drop-in events will be available at all six branches of the library throughout the week!
