The Wellington Branch Library has story time! On Wednesday, February 1, Whitney hosted the first Toddler Time with stories, a craft, and a snack all dedicated to the stellar works of Eric Carle. At 10:30, a small crowd of kids and their caregivers squeezed into the children’s area of the Wellington Branch Library. Whitney read two books by Eric Carle: The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Little Cloud. The children then had the opportunity to practice their fine motor skills by using the caterpillar – a hole punch – to “eat” paper fruits and vegetables, just like the caterpillar in Carle’s story. The children got to make their very own little clouds as well, designing each cotton ball cloud to look like something of their choosing. There were hat clouds, truck clouds, even cloud clouds! The group wrapped up with a Bananapillar snack – a banana for the caterpillar’s body, pretzel’s for its legs, and raisins for its eyes.
The Toddler Time was a great success and Whitney is excited to welcome everyone back next week, when she’ll be sharing just a few of the many stories by Robert Munsch.
